About Lively Stone

History
Lively Stone Apostolic Church of God was founded February 1, 1983 by Pastor George E. Shaw.  Its first location was 1809 W. 69th Street, Chicago, IL.  In 1992 the Church purchased an edifice at 9246 So. Cottage Grove Avenue on the southeast side of Chicago.  In 1987 he met and married Mary A. Briggs and the next 12 years the church saw the blessings of God through increase in membership and the development of different auxiliaries being formed and solidified which promoted spiritual growth and development.  Some of the ministries include a Deacons Board, a Women’s Department, Brotherhood Department, Youth Ministries, Christian Education Department, Hospitality and Alter Workers and Usher Board.  On May 28, 2005 Lively Stone purchased its present facility at 622 W. 120th Street in the West Pullman community on the far south side of Chicago.  Through the continued leadership of District Elder and Sister Shaw the Church has a mindset to impact this community in a positive way by being very active in continuing to spread the gospel, expanding outreach programs and increasing mentoring programs both for our membership and the community, and the development of other ministries as God open doors.  We believe that the Lord has indeed made room for us and we will be fruitful in the land.
